Life Time Smiles consultations are an opportunity for you to sit down with the dentist to discuss your future treatment options and any possible concerns you may have. Our focus is our patient care and ensuring the best outcomes for the future of your oral health.

Preventive Dental Care (Check up and Clean)

A dental hygienist emphasises gum health through oral hygiene. Your hygiene appointment consists of having your teeth professionally scaled, polished, a topical fluoride gel application, oral hygiene instructions as required, and screening for gum disease. Preventing problems in your mouth is vital to good health. Our hygiene team will educate you on how best to look after your teeth and gums at home. Other areas that may be discussed during this appointment include whitening of teeth, diet (sugar/decay, acid wear related), electric tooth brushes, mouth rinses and other special cleaning devices.

Once your hygiene appointment is complete, our friendly dentist will join you for a thorough check up to ensure the best possible outcome for your oral health.

We also have as part of our team a Hygienist/Therapist. Our therapist offers a fantastic service treating dental concerns in children and young adults up to the age of 17.  A dental therapist is a great alternative to seeing the dentist, especially for young children.  Our therapist specialises in offering comprehensive care to children and making dental visits fun!

White Fillings

If you require a filling, we offer sophisticated and gentle procedures using state of the art materials. Fillings are available in tooth coloured resin or porcelain. We investigate your dental health to find the best possible solution for you and endeavour to minimise the need for fillings by preventing future dental problems.

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are a custom-made shell like material, specially prepared to make your teeth look and feel natural. They are permanently bonded to the tooth, offering an aesthetically pleasing finish to your smile, with outstanding durability and strength. Veneers are a fantastic way of improving your smile.  In just two visits you can achieve your ideal smile.

When a tooth requires more than a filling, a crown may be required. A crown is an artificial covering that fits over the existing natural tooth. Crowns are used to repair badly decayed, broken, root filled or severely discoloured teeth.  We offer both porcelain and gold materials for your crowns, taking into consideration the area where the crown is to be placed.

Bridges are the traditional method used to replace missing teeth. There are several varieties, depending on the site in your mouth, your bite and also the aesthetic and functional considerations.

A bridge will:
Keep teeth from drifting into the space created by a missing tooth. Help preserve normal function and a normal bite for the jaw joint.

The most common type of bridge involves applying crowns to the two teeth on either side of a gap, where teeth have been removed. This involves the joining of three crowns including a crown to fill the gap. A bridge is suitable in areas where teeth on either side of the gap have been filled and would benefit from restoration with crowns. However, if the teeth beside the gap are unfilled it might be better to explore other options, such as implants.  This avoids having to cut otherwise-perfect teeth.

Root Canal

The aim of root canal treatment (also called "endodontic" treatment) is to save a tooth that has been damaged due to decay, disease or injury. Root canal treatment is successful in most cases. If you take good care of the treated tooth, it can last for many years and possibly for the rest of your life.  However, your tooth will not be treated unless the treatment is likely to succeed.  Root canal treatment may not be appropriate in some cases, and extraction may be the best option.

Wisdom Teeth Assessment

Wisdom teeth usually do not push through the gums until people are in their late teens, or twenties, but can emerge even later.  Wisdom teeth are usually the last teeth to come through the gums.

Most people have four wisdom teeth.  Often a problem arises when there is limited space at the rear of the mouth for wisdom teeth to emerge through the gums. If the gum does not have enough room for the wisdom tooth to come through, the tooth will become wedged in or "impacted".  Some impacted wisdom teeth remain in the gum and cause no trouble. However, other impacted wisdom teeth may cause severe problems and must be removed.

A whitening experience can really lift your spirits and make you smile. Our whitening system involves the simple use of trays that are fitted exactly to your teeth to optimise results. Your custom designed trays are then available only days after your initial appointment.

Whitening your teeth is a simple and effective way to create a beautiful smile quickly. If you find that you are hiding your smile because of stains from coffee, tea, red wine or cigarettes, talk to Life Time Smiles about our Whitening Treatment. There is no need to hide your smile. Pamper yourself and whiten your teeth today.
