Dental Volunteer Day - The National Dental Foundation

The National Dental Foundation would like to commend the outstanding efforts of all involved in the dental charity days carried out during 2008. Dr Chris Hart, director of Lifetime Smiles and chairman of the National Dental Foundation is proud to have helped organise such events, which last year alone resulted in patients receiving almost $1 Million in pro bono dental treatment across Australia.  Due to the outstanding success of 2008, the National Dental Foundation, in conjunction with Colgate, has decided to carry out further dental charity days in September 2009. Dr Chris Hart and the staff at Lifetime Smiles aim to treat over 50 patients at the Brisbane practice alone.

This shows great commitment and support for the National Dental Foundation and its endeavours. Other practices including Sparkle Dental, Refresh Dental, Today’s Dentistry, Browns Plains Dental, East Brisbane Dentists and Debbie Leong Dental have also volunteered their time and equipment to carry out pro bono dental work during the charity days.  The National Dental Foundation would also like to thank the hygienists and dental assistants that volunteered their time for this good cause. Without the help of volunteers such acts of charity would not be possible.

Charity Work

Dr Christopher Hart, the founder of Life Time Smiles is also the Chairman of the National Dental Foundation (NDF), which is a non profit organization whose endeavour it is to improve the dental health of underprivileged Australians. The NDF has successfully completed over $1 million dollars worth of dentistry for those in genuine need across the country. In conjunction with Colgate, the NDF are aiming to change the lives of 1000 patients by providing underprivileged Australians with pro bono dental work carried out by volunteer dentists and hygienists. The dental charity days take place during oral health month, an initiative of Colgate, used to provide those in need with the dental care they desperately need. The NDF have also used the charity days as an opportunity to educate the community on dental hygiene and disease prevention.

Dr Hart also has many personal charities that he supports, his main ones being, Leukaemia Research at the Royal Children’s Hospital and the supply of dental equipment and services to the Island of Vatulele in Fiji for the benefit of the villagers.
